Shannon Chinn is a Nebraska-based director and theatre artist committed to creating transformative theatrical experiences that challenge and inspire audiences.
Born and raised in Omaha, Shannon earned her B.F.A. in Directing from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2022. Most recently, she served as a Directing Fellow at the Omaha Community Playhouse's 2023-2024 season, where she assistant directed the mainstage production of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. She currently serves as a board member for Blixt Art Labs in Lincoln and co-directs the theatre program at Raymond Central High School.
As a director, Shannon focuses on deepening the connection between audiences and theatrical arts through innovative storytelling. Her work often involves reimagining classical texts for contemporary audiences while preserving their cultural significance. She is particularly passionate about bridging traditional and experimental theatre forms, creating productions that both honor theatrical heritage and push artistic boundaries.
Shannon's dedication to arts education shapes her work as both director and teaching artist. For three years, she has developed and led programs with BLIXT Arts Lab, fostering creativity and theatrical exploration among young artists. Now in her fourth year co-directing the theatre program at Raymond Central High School, she continues to inspire the next generation of theatre artists. Shannon further extends her educational impact through her work at the Lincoln Children's Museum, where she facilitates engaging after-school clubs and day camps.
Her artistic vision emphasizes audience engagement and meaningful cultural dialogue. Whether directing established works or developing new forms, Shannon strives to create theatrical experiences that resonate long after the curtain falls.
Beyond directing, Shannon is an emerging playwright (learn about her work here), avid playlist curator, and thrifting enthusiast.
